Introduction
To continue delivering medications reliably while managing rising operational costs, we have increased our shipping fee. This change helps offset the costs of tariff adjudication and other compliance-related processes. In addition, tariffs on imported medications are now charged based on the country of manufacture, in accordance with US policy. This article explains the reasoning behind these changes, how tariffs are applied, and current country-specific rates.
Why the shipping fee increase
- What changed: We’ve raised the shipping fee to help cover the adjudication costs associated with tariff compliance and regulatory requirements.
- What you’ll see: The shipping fee appears as a separate line item at checkout, alongside any tariff charges.
- Our commitment: We’re transparent about costs and continue to work to keep overall medication pricing fair and predictable for you.
How tariffs are charged now
- Tariffs are fixed by the country of manufacture (the country where the product is produced), not the country where the product is sent from, and are determined in accordance with US policy.
- Current country-specific tariff rates (rates are as of October 7, 2025; rates may be updated to reflect policy changes):
- India (IN): 50%
- Switzerland (CH): 39%
- Canada (CA): 35%
- European Union (EU): 15%
- Israel (IL): 15%
- New Zealand (NZ): 15%
- Turkey (TR): 15%
- United Kingdom (GB): 10%
- United States (US): 0%
- There are no offsets or reductions to these tariffs from our side under this policy; the tariff amount is added based on the country of manufacture.
Example 1: Canada sourced product manufactured in Canada
- Product manufacture: Canada
- Tariff rate: 35% of the product value
- Shipping fee: (as applicable, per our updated policy)
- Total charges at checkout: product price + (35% tariff) + shipping fee.
- What you see: The Canada-manufacture tariff is clearly itemized, showing the 35% tariff on the product value and, separately, the shipping fee.
Example 2: UK product manufactured in India
- Product manufacture: India
- Tariff rate: 50% for products manufactured in India
- Product origin vs. manufacture note: If a product is manufactured in India but sourced from the UK or labeled as UK-origin for other purposes, the applicable rate follows the country of manufacture rule (India, in this example).
- Shipping fee: applied per policy
- Total charges at checkout: product price + (50% tariff) + shipping fee + any non-tariff charges
- What you see: The tariff percentage (50%) is shown as a line item, with the shipping fee and other charges clearly listed.
- Note: in this example, US imposed tariffs of 50% on Indian exports to the United Sates include a penalty in response to India’s purchase of Russian oil.
Example 3: UK-origin product manufactured in the UK (tariff rules based on country of manufacture)
- Example 3, Product manufacture: United Kingdom (UK)
- Tariff rate: 10% for products manufactured in the UK
- Product origin vs. manufacture note: If a product is manufactured in the UK, the applicable tariff is 10% regardless of where the product is sourced from or where it is shipped to.
- Shipping fee: applied per policy
- Total charges at checkout: product price + (10% tariff) + shipping fee
- What you see: The tariff percentage (10%) is shown as a line item, with the shipping fee and other charges clearly listed.
How we present these charges
- Clear line-item breakdown: Tariff (by country of manufacture), shipping fee, and any other charges appear as separate line items at checkout.
- Transparency and consistency: We’ll provide a policy page with an up-to-date country-by-country table based on country of manufacture, plus a brief FAQ explaining how origin/manufacture is determined and how charges are calculated.
- Accessibility: All costs are described in plain language, with accessible formatting and tooltips where helpful.
What this means for you
- Predictability: Tariffs are country-of-manufacture specific and fixed under current policy.
- No offsets or variances: There will be no offsetting of tariffs by our team; the tariffs are applied as rates by the country of manufacture.
- Clear pricing at checkout: You will see a detailed breakdown of product price, tariffs by manufacture, shipping fee, and other charges before you place your order.
