Kerendia is finerenone 10mg and 20mg tablets. Kerendia is used in addition to standard therapy in adults with chronic kidney disease and type 2 diabetes. It is used to reduce the risk of end-stage kidney disease and a sustained decrease in estimated kidney (glomerular) filtration rate, as well as to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death, nonfatal myocardial infarction, and hospitalization for heart failure in people who have chronic kidney disease related to type 2 diabetes.

  • Kerendia is a prescription medication used as an adjunct to standard therapy in adults with chronic kidney disease and type 2 diabetes 

  • It is a nonsteroidal, selective mineralocorticoid receptor blocker 

  • The exact mechanism of action is not completely known, but is thought to be related to blocking the mineralocorticoid receptor resulting in less inflammation and damage to the kidneys, blood vessels and heart  

  • It is typically taken once daily, with or without food 

  • Common side effects may include high potassium, low sodium and low blood pressure 

  • It is not known if Kerendia will harm an unborn baby. Use must be discussed with your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. 

  • It is important to follow your doctor's instructions and attend regular check-ups while taking Kerendia to monitor your potassium, kidney function, blood pressure and overall health.

What is Mounjaro? 

Mounjaro is a brand name for tirzepatide, a prescription drug for type 2 diabetes that targets GIP (Glucose Dependent Insulinotropic Polypeptide) and GLP-1 (Glucagon-like Peptide-1) receptors to improve blood sugar control.

Recommended dosage for Mounjaro 

Mounjaro has different dose options, allowing you and your doctor to find the one that is right for you. If your doctor has prescribed once-weekly Mounjaro, you will start with 2.5 mg.  

After 4 weeks, you will move on to 5 mg. The dose can be further adjusted based on blood sugar control.
